The REA Media Awards

The Rural Electrification Authority (REA) conducts a Media Awards Programme each year for practising journalists from both public and private media institutions as well as free-lancers.

The programme seeks to encourage and celebrate sustained media commitment and support for REA’s efforts to increase access to electricity in rural areas in line with Government’s national development policies and plans. As part of the fundamental intent of the program, the awards also honour excellence for quality and investigative driven journalism in a country where rural areas are going through different development phases in line with Government’s socio-economic aspirations.

The Rural Electrification Authority (REA) presents the “2017 REA Media Awards.” The media awards are a celebration of quality journalism.

The purpose of the awards is to recognize, celebrate and encourage quality Journalism. Through this programme the Authority seeks to encourage journalists to write on Rural Electrification issues. the programme also endeavours to encourage journalists to write on the impact stories relating to the Rural Electrification programme in Zambia.
